Quote of the Day – Kentucky teachers – kind of novices with virtual instruction - The - Bluegrass Institute

Union head says so

“Brent McKim, president of the Jefferson County Teachers’ Association, pointed out that aside from the experience they gained in the spring, most teachers in the Commonwealth are ‘kind of novice’ at virtual instruction.”

Quote from Kentucky Department of Education Advisory 20-245 (not yet online – will update with link when available)

So, with the announcement today that Governor Beshear wants all in-person school opening delayed until at least September 28, the “kind of novices” educating students is going to continue for weeks to come – and maybe much longer.

If you’re a parent ready for an alternative, don’t forget our earlier post about the Barren Academy of Virtual and Expanded Learning (BAVEL). If you have to do distance learning, BAVEL has over 15 years of experience with this and the staff definitely are not novices. Maybe you can even get your local district to allow your child to do a district-to-district transfer that will make this option free. If not, the tuition is only $450 per full-year academic course.

Novice or experience: which does your child deserve?
