The Royal Family Shared Sweet Messages for Queen Elizabeth's 96th Birthday - Town & Country

Today marks the Queen's 96th birthday (the real one—not to be confused with her "official" birthday which is celebrated with Trooping the Colour in the summer) and the royal family have already begun sending out their well-wishes on social media for the monarch's many happy returns.

Prince William and Kate shared a sweet post on their official Instagram and Twitter accounts, along with a photo of themselves and the Queen at the 2019 Chelsea Flower Show, and one of the Queen and the late Prince Philip with their great-grandchildren in 2018.

"Wishing Her Majesty The Queen a very happy 96th birthday today!" the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wrote in the caption."An inspiration to so many across the UK, the Commonwealth and the world, it’s particularly special to be celebrating in this #PlatinumJubilee year."

Clarence House, the official account of the Queen's eldest child, Prince Charles, and his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, likewise shared well-wished via Twitter and Instagram.

"Wishing Her Majesty The Queen a particularly special 96th birthday today, as we celebrate her Platinum Jubilee year," they wrote, along with a balloon emoji and a series of photos of the Queen throughout the years.

Social media maven Princess Eugenie also posted on Instagram for the grandmother's big day, with an image of the Queen and the royal family, including Eugenie as a child, on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

"Happy 96th Birthday Granny! You have been such an inspiration to me and so many across the world. Thank you for your support, love and strength," she wrote. Her sister, Princess Beatrice replied to the post, saying "Happy Birthday Our Most Beloved Queen Elizabeth II. We love you so much"

Beatrice also shared a message of her own, writing, "Happy Birthday Our Most Beloved Queen Elizabeth II. Loving you gives us strength. Enjoy your happy day with loved ones and your passions. We love love love Our Gracious Queen," alongside the newly-released birthday photos of Her Majesty.

The royal family's collective social media account got in on the act as well, sharing an adorable photo of a grinning two year old Princess Elizabeth from the Royal Collection Trust, along with a brief biography of how the princess who was never intended to inherit the throne became the country's longest-reigning monarch—a milestone she marks this year with her Platinum Jubilee, celebrating 70 years on the throne.
