Like many others, the Sumter School District said it learned of the fights on Feb. 22 from a link of the second brawl posted on social media wistv.com reported. A school investigation is underway and the the school district said students involved will face disciplinary action in accordance with the Sumter School District Code of Conduct.
The mother of one of the students involved in the fight posted the video on her Facebook page, and it has been viewed more than 145,000 times. The video has garnered more than 1,000 reactions, such as “Likes,” and has been shared nearly 3,500 times.
Along with the video, Linda Frierson wrote a post saying that her son, and two of his friends, were jumped at school by seven other boys, but are being held to the same standard as all involved.
“I didn’t realize the severity of what happened until the video surfaced and I got a call from the school today telling me that I needed to pick up my son,” she wrote on Feb. 23, fuming with anger because she said her son and his friends are expected to be charged and potentially expelled for their roles in the brawl. “Clearly this video shows my kid and his friends being jumped and stomped in the ground for no reason other than these little punks wanted to show off.”
