  • Michael Cruz Kayne of Brooklyn asked his five-year-old daughter Willa if she had made a mistake on the cards, but she pointedly replied: 'No'

A little girl's new twist on the Valentine's Day greeting has put social media in stitches.

Michael Cruz Kayne of Brooklyn was sifting through his five-year-old daughter Willa's Valentine's card she had been writing out for her class on Tuesday when he noticed what he assumed was a grammatical mistake.

Instead of a generic Valentine's greeting such as 'Be Mine' or even 'Happy Valentine's Day', very one of the multi-colored notes read 'You Love Me.'

Michael, assuming that his daughter hadn't quite understood what she had written, asked Willa if she had made a mistake.

'No I didn’t,' she pointedly replied.

Amused by his confident daughter, Michael shared the story on Twitter, writing: 'My five year old daughter is writing Valentines for her kindergarten class and has written on all of them, “You love me.”'

He also included his hilarious interaction with the clever little girl - and Twitter couldn't get enough.

More than a thousand people retweeted the sweet post, as well as the photographic evidence Michael later included.

'Haters gonna say its fake,' he wrote in the second tweet, attaching an image of a pile of lined note cards.

The top card is addressed to a boy named Julian, and simply reads: 'You love me Julian. From Willa.'

The probable future heartbreaker has since been elevated by social media users as a self-confidence hero.

'Reinventing the game,' wrote one user, which prompted Willa's dad to respond: 'She’s playing chess and they’re all playing checkers.'

Another user gushed: 'This is the kind of confidence you need to go into life with - especially as a girl.'
