Have you read the inspirational "last words" from late Apple chief Steve Jobs? Did you take his advice - words about forsaking money in favor of family and love?
Good stuff. Too bad it's not real.
A viral Facebook post has resurfaced claiming to be a deathbed essay from Jobs, who passed away at age 56 in 2011. The post, accompanied by an image of a gaunt-looking Jobs, said he could "feel the breath of my approaching death looming over me."
"Stop pursuing wealth, it can only make a person into a twisted being, just like me," the post notes."God has made us one way, we can feel the love in the heart of each of us, and not illusions built by fame or money, like I made in my life, I cannot take them with me."
According to hoax-busting website Snopes, the Jobs deathbed essay first surfaced in 2015 on a blog. The blog's author notes that while the words were "sent to me in the name of Steve Jobs...they can't be attributed to Mr. Jobs."
That didn't stop the words from spreading and being attributed to Jobs, however.
Snopes notes the essay has not been published anywhere outside of unofficial social media accounts and individual blogs. It has not been confirmed by anyone close to Jobs.
Jobs' final words were confirmed by his sister, Mona Simpson, while delivering his eulogy. The tech mogul's last words, according to his sister, were "Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow."
