Royal baby to share birthday with ANOTHER royal - Kate's labour date is VERY British

The Duchess of Cambridge has just given birth to a baby boy who is now fifth in line to the to the throne.

He was born at the Lindo Wing of St Mary's hospital at 11.01 BST weighing 8lbs 7oz.

The arrival of the royal baby coincides with the birthdays of prominent English figures, making today an anniversary of the notable and prestigious.

On the list is English poet and playwright Shakespeare, who was believed to have been born today in 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Today also marks the 402nd anniversary of his death, as it is reported he died on the same day in 1616.

He was widely known as the "greatest writer in the English language" and was often called "England's national poet and the "Bard of Avon".

Shakespeare's work included 38 plays, 2 narrative poems and a collection of 154 sonnets.

These include Hamlet, Henry VI, Titus Andronicus, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Merchant of Venice and Richard II and Romeo and Juliet.

Today is also St George's day, named after the Greek-Turkish soldier who was beheaded after refusing to renounce his faith and worship Roman gods.

He was imprisoned, tortured, and dragged through the streets of the Palestinian city of Lydda before he was killed.

St George's death saw King Edward III appoint him England's patron saint in 1327, replacing Anglo-Saxon favourite St Edmund.

His legendary "slaying a dragon" story appears to have come from the Eastern Orthodox Church and among "tales" told by Crusade fighters.

The story tells of a scaly beast infected by plague, who lived in a lake in Silene, a city in Libya.

The creature expected the locals to provide him with two sheep a day, and when they ran out of livestock, they were willing to offer their children as an exchange.

At this point, George, a well-known knight killed the beast and saved the people from their perpetuating turmoil - on condition they convert to Christianity.

Another royal on the list, Lady Gabriella Windsor was born today in 1981, and is the only daughter or Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.

She was given birth at St Mary's London, the same place Prince of George and Princes Charlotte were born in.

The royal has also been invited to

She now works as an English freelance feature writer after studying Comparative Literature and Hispanic Studies at the prestigious Brown University in Rhode Island.
