A dog that was the star of a heartbreaking viral video this past week has found a new loving home in the Spring Branch area.
The Australian Shepherd Border Collie mix named Hunter was seen in a video posted by a Houston Humane Society volunteer last Friday just hours after he was surrendered to the animal shelter.

Staff said his previous owners claimed he was unable to adapt to a new dog in the home. In the video Hunter looked dejected and nuzzled the chest of the volunteer, which immediately struck a chord with viewers.
Soon the video was seen over 50,000 times, shared by thousands and the shelter was overwhelmed by people wanting to adopt him. The process was complicated by his heart worm positive diagnosis, meaning his new family would need to pay for treatments.
On Wednesday evening his new owners, a couple from the Spring Branch area, picked up Hunter. David Miller and Larry Thomas already had a female pup the same age and breed as Hunter making it a perfect match.
"Larry's sister sent us the video and it was game over," Miller said in a video shared by the Houston Humane Society. "They kinda looked like inverses, a yin and a yang sort of thing and we came and saw him the same day."

The next day the couple had a meet and greet with Hunter and their dog Dolly, named after legendary country singer Dolly Parton.
"It was like they had known each other for a decade," Miller said. Soon after the couple began the application process to adopt their new family member.
After Hunter was adopted on Wednesday he was rechristened Kenny, as in Kenny Rogers. So now Miller and Thomas have their own furry country duo under their roof.
Kenny and Dolly also have their own Instagram account which will document their lives together. Adventures in islands and streams are soon to follow.
