School pictures gone wrong: Green screen disembodies Missouri student's head

A seventh grader’s outfit choice made for interesting school photos.

Laurel Boone Hutsell shared the hilarious shots of her son, Carter, who wore a neon green shirt for the first day of middle school in Saint Louis, Mo. last week. The result? The 12-year-old’s disembodied head and arms floating across different backgrounds.

Carter practiced everything from a smile to proper hair management, and selected a bright green shirt to stand out from the "gray background they used in last year’s picture," Hutsell wrote for Love What Matters.

They didn't account for one aspect — a green screen.

Hutsell took to Facebook to document the conversation she had with her son after he returned home from school on picture day.

“Mom, I shouldn’t have worn the green shirt for pictures. It will blend in with the green screen they used,” her son said.

The self-proclaimed #momoftheyear replied: “They used a green screen? What?! I probably should have read some fine print. Maybe they will be ok.”

Turns out the pictures were not okay, but the end result was epic enough to go viral. Her post had 56,000 likes and over 46,000 shares at publish time.

On the bright side, Hutsell said, “At least his hair and smile were on point!”
