While dozens of tornadoes were spotted across central Illinois over the weekend, a group of Havanna duck hunters got to see the action up close and personal.
And they captured the scary experience all on video, which has since gone viral, racking up almost three million views in just two days in what is known as "Ducknado."
"Earlier in the day when the tornado watch was actually issued I kinda said to the guys, im like I would like to see a tornado I have never seen one in person," Matt Stroub said.
During the storm, the four friends were on the water duck hunting. They were face to face with the storm barreling down on them from less than a mile away.
"It happened fast it went from a flat bottom cloud to a twister in a minute and a half," Jack Meyer said.
For two of the guys, this was their first tornado. But for the others, this was just another good day for hunting.
"Might not have been the smartest thing but I was gonna stick her out unless, yeah, I was going to stick her out," Jace Pedigo said.
Pedigo was in a picture from "Ducknado," that also went viral on Facebook. He said he put it up so his friends would have a good laugh.
"We weren't joking about it or anything we just had the chance to take an epic picture that you'll probably never have the chance to take again," he said.
The guys said they hope the families affected by the storm are alright. They said the experience is definitely something they will remember, but they hope to never do it again.
"I've never been that close to a tornado," Levi Sarff said. "I have never ever seen a tornado come down and form actually destroy something, just to witness the whole entire process was crazy."
