Northwestern players on viral strength coach: 'The man's an animal' - For The Win

Northwestern football strength coach Alex Spanos went viral this season for his attitude, exceptional energy levels and “shmedium” shirts. He’s also often not wearing a coat on the sidelines — another impressive characteristic considering it’s winter in Evanston.

And according to some Wildcats, none of it’s an act. They told ESPN’s College GameDay that Spanos is like that all the time.

“It’s funny that only in the past year or so that he’s shown up on social media of being kind of that crazy, energetic guy because he is like that every day,” Northwestern linebacker Nate Hall said. “The man’s an animal.”

“He’s got the most energy out of anyone, by far, I’ve ever seen in my life,” defensive lineman Joe Gaziano added.

As far as Spanos’ shirts, not everyone believes him when he says he’s wearing a large shirt.
