Woman gives birth to 6.7kg baby boy - Kidspot

The sacrifices we make for our children start early, and for one mum, giving birth to a son weighing a record-breaking 14 pounds, 13 ounces (6.7kg), certainly counts as a sacrifice.

Ali James Medlock was born by c-section in Arlington, Texas on December 12 according to USA Today.

Most bubs weigh between six and eight pounds (2.7kg-3.6kg).

Parents Jennifer and Eric Medlock, both school teachers, were surprised by their enormous son.

Much bigger than their daughter

They were told Ali is the heaviest baby ever born at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital.

"We did not expect 14 pounds," Jennifer said. "Nobody did."

Their daughter Annabelle, now 2, weighed nine pounds (4kg).

Ali spent some time in neonatal intensive care as he had very low blood sugar and platelet levels, and he was short of breath.

But he was released in good health on December 19 to go home.

In 2017 a Florida mum gave birth to a daughter weighing an incredible 13 pounds and five ounces, just over six kilograms.
