If you do a quick search for Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid on ESPN.com you might see something curious. ESPN has the 2018 All-NBA Second Team star listed as “Born” in Gainesville, FL. Embiid was actually born in Yaoundé, Cameroon.
Unless there is something Embiid isn’t telling us, it’s one of the stranger mistakes we have seen in a while.
Is it possible that Embiid has found a way to update where he was born on ESPN the way he has fun with his “location” on Instagram? It’s no secret he likes to take liberties with that feature on social media. He once listed his location as “BBQ Chicken” in a post related to scoring on Miami Heat’s center Hassan Whiteside.
