Snow days may have become the most talked about topic lately, especially on social media.
A pair of videos by a former North Bay resident definitely appear to support that statement.
Kelly Whittet, a single mom from North Bay, who currently resides in Orillia, went to facebook to do a pair of satirical video rants about snow days. Her straight faced approach makes you wonder if she is serious or not, even when she states how sorry she feels for parents having to spend an extra day with their kids after spending two weeks of Christmas holidays with them.
“I can’t even imagine what that family is going through, having to spend another day with their kids, like that is just unfair, I don’t even think there are words for it,” stated Whittet.
Kelly is connected with many North Bay residents and of course in North Bay the first two days of the 2019 school year were started with a pair of snow days.
After seeing all the snow day rants, she had enough.
“I was so tired of reading all the ridiculous posts by people about snow days and complaining about busses not running...rather than debating about it, I thought I just make a video so some people might get the hint of just how ridiculous they sound,” said Whittet.
In her second video rant, a dishevelled Whittet, with her glasses on sideways, rants about how someone - a bus or taxi - needs to come and take her son away as he clangs pots in the background.
The videos have created a lot of snow day buzz. In fact, her two videos have nearly 200,000 views combined.
“Hopefully people got the message,” says Whittet, who has done some stand up comedy in the past.
“The second video was just a spoof off of the first and apparently it has over 10,000 views.
“Sometimes it's easier to make light of a situation rather than argue about it.”
