Whether you follow college football or not, chances are you've seen the video making rounds online showing Texas' Bevo charging at his game day rival, Uga, the Georgia Bulldogs mascot.
Austin-American Statesman sports reporter Danny Davis had his phone out and captured the adrenaline-filled moment about an hour before the Sugar Bowl kickoff.
"It just kind of happened all in the blur, and you see Bevo charge out, and his handlers trying to get him back in, and people scurrying and stuff," Davis said. "When it happens immediately, you kind of turn around and make sure no one is lying on the ground. One of our photographers was sitting there right when it happened."
That photographer, trapped between the two mascots, was Nick Wagner.
He was crouched low to the ground near Bevo's pen, trying to snap a picture of Uga, when the longhorn toppled the barricade and rammed into his back and face.
"I heard clamoring in the background. I looked around, and Bevo's horns were coming right toward me. I was like alright, time for me to go," Wagner said.
It's a moment Wagner says he often thinks about but never expects.
"I could feel distinctly him hitting my back with his horn and then coming around a clocking me in the face," he said.
Wagner left the game with a bruise on his back and some scrapes on his face, but he says there's no hard feelings toward Bevo.
"It's definitely a thought that runs through your head, but you never think it's going to happen to you," he said. "I think we'll make up for it in the future here."
Thanks to his handler and some quick moves, Uga made it out unharmed.
