But Saturday’s second round couldn’t have been any more different from Maggert’s first round. After finishing with an 8 on the final hole on Friday, Maggert shot an 8-under 63 on Saturday on a total of 22 putts to move back to 3-under overall through 36 holes. While he was tied for 66th after the first round, he wrapped up his second round tied for 19th.
Maggert, who hasn’t won on the Champions Tour since 2015, had four bogeys and only two birdies to compliment his triple-bogey on Friday. But on Saturday, he had only one bogey on his scorecard. Instead, Maggert racked up five birdies and two eagles on the day.
Maggert’s weekend at the Hoag Classic is a friendly reminder to all golfers that every day and round can be very different from the next.
