He made the astounding claim to presenter Richard Bacon this morning. He said “I can tell you” the Royal Baby is due “today or tomorrow”. He said: “The due date is pretty much today - today, tomorrow. We really are in the realms of imminent arrival. We haven’t been told that its happened overnight but any day now.” Whilst Meghan Markle’s due date was confirmed to be in either late April or early May several weeks ago, the exact date was never clarified.
Royal commentator Camilla Tominey revealed the royal couple may choose to call their baby Philippa in honour of Prince Philip if they have a girl.
She also added that Meghan and Harry may consider including the Duchess of Sussex mother Doria’s in some part of the child's name – as royals often have several middle names.
While speaking on the Today show Mrs Tominey said: “Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are saying that they don’t know but you know some parents say that when actually they do and they just don’t want to spoil the surprise.
“They say they are having a surprise and we will give them the benefit of the doubt.
“It will be just like the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, they didn’t know the gender of any of their children.”
The royal commentator was asked if the royal baby is a girl what names may the royal couple be considering.
The hosts also added that many royal fans hope baby bears Diana in her name somewhere out of respect for Harry’s late mother.
She went on to say: “Of course Diana is in Princess Charlotte's name and there is no reason why they couldn’t give Diana as a middle name.
“It is interesting that Victoria has been mentioned as this year marks the 200th anniversary of her birth so it has got historical significance.
“Again, a nod to Queen Elizabeth II could be in there as well.
“Or even possibly one of the names of the male royals for a female royal baby.
“Philippa for instance in honour of the Duke of Edinburg might be a name considered there.
“Alternatively I note that some of Meghan’s side of the family won’t be in there.
“Thomas or Tomatina probably not Samantha either but Doria might feature, Meghan’s beloved mother.”
