Today in History: Danny Jordan was born in PE - Roodepoort Northsider

Dr Daniel “Danny” Jordaan was born on 3 September 1951 in Port Elizabeth. He is a renowned sports administrator and a former lecturer, politician and anti-apartheid activist.

Jordaan was awarded the Order of Ikhamanga in Gold for ensuring that South Africa secured the right to host the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

He is the current president of the South African Football Association and was recently appointed the third vice-president of the Confederation of African Football (Caf).

From 1994 to 1997, Jordaan was a Member of the Parliament of South Africa and he is also the former Mayor of Port Elizabeth.
