It’s a Christmas miracle – “Jesus is Born,” the album Kanye West promised two months ago is here.
But the album's artist is notably the Sunday Service Choir and not West himself. The gospel choir tours with West for his Sunday Service events, which have a worship atmosphere and often feature celebrities (beyond West himself).
The nearly hour-and-a-half-long album, which dropped on several streaming services Wednesday afternoon, opens with the gospel choir singing "Count Your Blessings." West tweeted a link with the album cover, which features a photo of a blinding sun over water.
In an interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1, West announced the album and called himself the “greatest human artist of all time.” At the time, Rolling Stone said, “the announcement that he’ll deliver a Sunday Service album by Christmas remains the most ludicrous part of the entire discussion.”

Fans had mixed reactions to the album, including incredulity that it actually dropped given West's track record of not delivering albums when promised and confusion about the album being from Sunday Service instead of West.
One user wrote: "wow jesus is born actually came out"
Another wrote: So #JesusIsBorn is not a Kanye album nor is it an album of gospel renditions of his music. It’s just... a gospel album.
But that doesn't mean fans disliked the music. One wrote: "The choir was clearly the best part of JESUS IS KING (Like Dorkzz said, the album would've probably been better without Ye lol), and I'm enjoying Jesus Is Born so far, but like, it's pretty much background or cooking music."
