The “Today” show’s Dylan Dreyer, who has been candid about a past miscarriage and her struggles with infertility, gave birth to a baby boy on Thursday.
Dreyer and husband Brian Fichera’s new son, Oliver George, joins big brother Calvin, who is 3 years old.
“It was a long time coming,” Dreyer, 38, said in an on-air phone call to her “3rd Hour of Today” co-hosts Friday morning. “This year started off a lot differently than it ended.”
Earlier this year, the meteorologist revealed that after struggling to conceive a second child naturally, she did become pregnant but miscarried.
She then decided to try IVF but found out she didn’t need to because she had unexpectedly become pregnant.
In her Friday morning phone call, Dreyer said that Oliver, who weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces and measured 19 inches at birth, had a full head of blond hair when he was born — unlike Calvin, who was bald for a year.
“I just want to kiss him every second,” she said, then added her new family dynamic: “Everything just clicked. … Everything about it just feels right.”
