Patricia Glazebrook (Politics, Philosphy, and Public Affairs) will present the first Common Reading faculty lecture at 4:10 p.m. today. The Zoom talk, accessible from the Common Reading website calendar, will present an overview of issues that provide the context for this year’s book, Trevor Noah’s memoir Born a Crime. Drawing from her own experiences from 18 years of research in Africa, Glazebrook will provide a brief account of the consequences of colonization/partition, the continent’s ecosystem and geographical magnificence, as well as its tragedies of conflict, corruption, poverty, and environmental damage.
