While laying the foundation stone of the Ambedkar memorial in Mumbai on November 19, 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked November 26 as the Constitution Day of India. Since then, November 26 is celebrated as the Constitution Day or the Samvidhan Day of India every year. The Law Day or Constitution Day of India aims to bring awareness to the importance of the Indian Constitution and its architect, Dr. BR Ambedkar.

The Constitution declares India a "sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic and to secure to all its citizens' justice, social, economic and political; liberty of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship; equality of status and of opportunity; and to promote among them all fraternity assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the nation."

Constitution Day 2020: About Dr BR Ambedkar

Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was born on April 14, 1891. He was the first minister of Law and Justice of India from August 29, 1947, to January 24, 1950, and the principal architect of the Constitution of India, the biggest and most complex constitution in the world. Due to which he is also known as the Father of the Indian Constitution.

Ambedkar was a professional economist. He established the Finance Commission of India. The Reserve Bank of India runs on guidelines and ideas formed by Ambedkar.
