Sheila Jenkins

Sheila Long Jenkins, 85, of Kailua-Kona, died Jan. 30, 2021, at her residence. Born Oct. 4, 1935, in Seattle, she was an elementary school teacher.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a local hospice.

She is survived by husband, David Jenkins of Santa Rosa and Kailua-Kona; sons Richard (Patricia) Jenkins of Corte Madera, California, and Brian (Sachiko) Jenkins of Portland; sister, Carole (Lefty) Conover of San Mateo; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Joan Flores

Joan Gail Flores, 80 of Pahoa, died Jan 25, 2021, at her residence. Born in Heeia, Oahu, she was a homemaker.

Services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by daughters, Ronalyn Freitas of California, Karen (Clayton) DeSilva and RoAnn (Steven) Martin, all of Keaau, Alare (Greg) Hopkins of Mountain View and Deborah (Kenneth) Flores of Pahoa; son, Dexter (Naomi) Freitas of Kaneohe, Oahu; hanai son, John-Jon (Ramona) Freitas of Pahoa; brother Edmund (Joan) Jones of Kailua, Oahu; 21 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Abel Ganer

Abel Kawai Ganer, 63, of Kalopa and formerly of Lanai City, died Jan. 31, 2021, at his residence. Born in North Kona, he was a retired supervisor and lead ramp for Hawaiian Airlines and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Feb. 11 at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery for a drive-through memorial service; private services and burial to follow. Donations in memory of Abel Ganer may be made to either the American Cancer Society or North Hawaii Hospice.

He is survived by wife, Myrni Mendes; daughters, Emily Freeman, Jessica (Clayton) Barbosa, Chelsea (Angela) Ganer-Loh; siblings, Hano (Charmaine) Ganer, Anacita (Steven) Murphy, Anna (Dean) Ganer, Kimo Ganer, Lanai (Martin) Eskaran; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Conrad Tenorio

Conrad “Condring” Cervantes Tenorio, 66, of Mountain View, died Jan. 26, 2021, at his residence. Born in Pangasinan, Philippines, he was a laundry employee at Hilton Waikoloa Village.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. Feb. 19 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 6 p.m. service. Friends may also call at noon Feb. 20 at Homelani Memorial Park (Lehua Section) for a graveside service/burial.

He is survived by wife, Jurenne Tenorio, of Mountain View; daughters, Aileen (Clem) Navalta ,of Mountain View and Elisha Joy (Chester) Tenorio, of Keaau; son, Ryan (Frances Marie) Tenorio, of Hilo; seven grandchildren; sister, Carlina Fernandez, of Hilo; brothers, Larry (Angela) Tenorio and Bonifacio (Teresita) Tenorio, all of Mountain View; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sueko Matsumoto

Sueko “Sue” Sugawara Matsumoto, 85, of Paauilo, died Feb. 3, 2021, at her residence. Born Oct. 14, 1935, in Paauilo, she was retired from the state Department of Education and was a member of Paauilo Hongwanji Mission.

Private services held. Family requests no monetary contributions (koden) or flowers.

She is survived by husband, Harry Matsumoto of Paauilo; sons, Rowan Matsumoto and Shawn Matsumoto, both of Paauilo; daughter, Doedi Matsumoto, of Honolulu; brother, Tadashi (Fusako) Sugawara, of Los Angeles; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard Heller

Richard Lawrence Heller, 81, of Pahoa, died Jan. 31, 2021, at his residence. Born in Coupeville, Washington, he was a carpenter and master woodworker.

Private services held.

He is survived by daughter, Catherine (Greg) Morris of Moorpark, CA; son, Christopher Heller of Pahoa; mother of his children, Kaonohi Jeremiah of Pahoa; two grandsons; a sister; and a brother.

Fujiyo Kuroyama

Fujiyo “Violet” Kuroyama, 103, of Hilo, died July 22, 2020, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Jan. 30, 1917, in Honuapo, Ka‘u, she was a retired seamstress, and a member of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, Buddhist Women’s Association, Hawaii Shima Fukuoka Kenjin Kai and Kumamoto Doshi Kai.

Private services held.

She is survived by son, Gary Kuroyama of Hilo; daughter, Evelyn (Edwin) Young, of Honolulu; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Roy Leabig

Roy Charles Leabig, 72 of Hilo, died Jan. 25, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Berkeley, CA, he was a construction worker.
