18 years ago, on this day Hip Hop was forever changed!
The “King of the South” T.I. released Trap Muzik and changed the game to this day.
This release, featured Jazzy Pha, 8 Ball & MJG, and Bun B, with hit singles such as “Rubber Band Man,” “Be Easy,” and “Let’s Get Away” that led T.I. to his first platinum plaque.
T.I. introduced the concept of the “trap” in the album, now it should not bee suggested that T.I. is the creator of the genre, but it is valid to say that he's like Bill Haley, and is the creator of the piece of music that forever named the style that exists to this day.
The modern trap sound is more credited to Lex Luger, who produced the Waka Flocka Flame album Flockaveli in 2010, but what can't be denied is Trap Muzik's reach began the tide that has rolled over not just all of hip-hop, but music in general itself. The effects of the sound exists in every genre of music out now.
Salute to T.I., Jason Geter, DJ Toomp, and all involved with this piece of Hip Hop history.
