A white rhino was born late last night at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. According to Dr. Mark Penning, this is the third white rhino calf born at the park in the past 13 months. The species is endangered.

Mom — Lola — and the calf will remain backstage to nurse and bond. The calf’s weight and sex are unknown. A name will likely be announced later as well.

The images come from the backstage “keeper cam.” Dr. Penning is Disney’s Vice President of Animals, Science, and Environment.
