If we start calling it “gender appropriation,” do you think the Transgender thing will become unpopular on the left?
This was a comment left in the PIT by one of our members. It’s a fun question, given that the left is so against “cultural appropriation.” A white woman making tacos? “That’s cultural appropriation! You can’t do that!”¹ Why wouldn’t it also apply to gender? Or for that matter, why wouldn’t it apply to sex, which is the proper term for our biological dichotomy? Why shouldn’t a drag queen be told by a woman, “You’re appropriating my sex.”
We have also been told by the left that sex is just a social construct, that men and women are equal and there is no difference between them. If that is so, why does anyone have to transition to the opposite sex? If boys can play with dolls and still be boys, if girls can play with trucks and still be girls, then why does a boy who plays with dolls suddenly need to start hormone therapy to block puberty. There is no logic to it.²
Apparently the term “gender appropriation” has been around for about five years. It cropped up after some of the people who were “transracial” were exposed. If transracial is race/cultural appropriation, why isn’t transsexual a form of gender/sex appropriation? Can any of you figure this stuff out?
As for me, I think I may start using the term “gender appropriation” whenever I get the chance.
- Some know my feeling about using exclamation points. But have you ever noticed that the left is always exclaiming accusingly and shouting at people? It’s one of the reasons not to like the left. They exclaim far too much.
- There is also an old saying about logic not getting someone out of a pattern of thinking when they didn’t use logic to get into it. Very little on the left has to do with logic.
