Twitter Users Share What They'd Give Putin on His 70th Birthday - Newsweek

Dozens of Twitter users shared what they'd give Vladimir Putin for his birthday as he turned 70 years old on Friday.

"Today, the dictator of #Russia turns 70. What do you wish #Putin for his birthday? Let us know in the comments," media outlet Nexta TV wrote in a tweet on Friday.

The tweet prompted an array of responses, including many criticizing Putin as Russia continues its war with Ukraine.

Twitter user Roman Conan wrote "no more birthdays," in response to the tweet.

"It is Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin's birthday today. I do not wish him any joy. Rather, I wish that this be his last birthday," Jason Jay Smart of the Kyiv Post wrote in a tweet.

In a statement on Friday, the Kremlin said that Putin is "receiving numerous telegrams and messages of greetings on his 70th birthday from foreign heads of state and government, heads of international organisations, and public figures."

According to the Kremlin's statement, Putin received birthday messages from former President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermúdez, President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan and President of the Republic of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa.

Act like you think others should act. Do to others what you want others to do to you. Don't make excuses, you control your behavior."

While some criticized Putin on his birthday, others shared messages of celebration and pictures of the Kremlin leader.

"Happy Birthday Dear President Putin." Twitter user Jacob Charite wrote.

Twitter user Sentletse wrote, "A very happy 70th birthday to the President of the expanded Russian Federation, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin," sharing a video and photo of Putin.
