Bobi — a purebred Rafeiro do Alentejo who was on born May 11, 1992 is celebrating his 31st birthday today in Portugal.
According to The Guinness World Records Bobi is the World's Oldest Living Dog and is also the oldest canine ever recorded.
Bobi's owner, Leonel Costa, told Guinness World Records that a big traditional Portuguese birthday party was planned for Bobi on Saturday at his home in the rural village of Conqueiros, where Bobi has lived his entire life. More than 100 people, some traveling from overseas, are due to attend the festivities which will include plenty of local food and a dance troupe which Bobi will dance with.
It's pretty impressive that Bobi is still able to dance at his age considering he is 217 years old in human years. Well-wishers are celebrating Bobi and @Amy comments, "What a sweet old doggo!" @Jane adds, "I hope my dog lives even half as long as this birthday boy!"
Bobi's owner was quoted as saying, "We've had a lot of journalists and people come from all over the world to take a picture with Bobi," Mr Costa said.
"They've come from all over Europe, as well as the USA and even Japan."
His owner believes Bobi's longevity has to do a lot with his human diet, which includes lots of meat and fish and the tranquility of living in the country.
