Royal commentator Jennie Bond told OK! Lilibet is celebrating her first birthday in her "home country".

She added: "Last year the family were at Frogmore cottage where they stayed during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. They held a small party in the garden there.

"This year it will no doubt be in all American affair at their Montecito mansion in the Californian sunshine. I would expect to see a sprinkling of celebrities and a laid-back party, which hopefully will include some other toddlers."

King Charles won't be marking Lilibet's birthday with any social media posts, according to a royal source.

They said: "The royal family don't mark the birthdays of non-working members.

"They of course wish Lilibet a very happy birthday but nothing will be put out on any channels."

It is not known what gifts the princess could expect, but when she's older mum Meghan plans to present her with a £5,000 Cartier Frank Tank Francaise watch.

Meghan, 41, bought the timepiece after finding out her role as Rachel Zane in Suits was set to continue into a third season.

She had the back engraved "To M.M. From M.M."

She has previously said: "I plan to give it to my daughter one day. That’s what makes pieces special, the connection you have to them."

It comes after Lilibet and her older brother Archie, four, were officially recognised as Princess and Prince.

Buckingham Palace updated the Royal Family website to reflect Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's preference for their children to use the titles now Charles is King.

The couple today said it was their kids' "birthright".

The youngsters became prince and princess when the King acceded to the throne, but remained a plain "master" and "miss" on the Palace website for the past six months.

Archie and Lilibet now appear as Prince Archie of Sussex and Princess Lilibet of Sussex.

Harry and Meghan intend to reserve the titles for formal settings, it is understood.

Their spokesperson said: "The children's titles have been a birthright since their grandfather became monarch.

"This matter has been settled for some time in alignment with Buckingham Palace."

The duke and duchess are said to be keen to allow Archie and Lili the chance to decide for themselves whether keep using the titles when they get older.

It is understood the King was aware beforehand and that there had been correspondence about the matter.

A source told the Mirror: "The appropriate conversations took place ahead of Lilibet's christening."

The Sussexes allegedly asked Charles, CamillaPrince William and Kate to be there but they declined the offer, according to a source.
