Paris Hilton threw an epic party with her celebrity friends to celebrate son Phoenix's first birthday.
The 42-year-old reality star and entrepreneur shared photos and videos from Phoenix's birthday bash on her Instagram story Jan. 27.
Before the festivities began, the mom of two uploaded a video of a blue and orange balloon display being set up in a backyard as "I Just Can't Wait to Be King" from "The Lion King" blasted in the background.
But, it seems another classic Disney animation, "The Little Mermaid," might've inspired the theme for Phoenix's party. In the next clip, she gave a closer look at the birthday decorations, which included a massive archway with "Phoenix" on it, fish balloons and clear balloons that said "#slivingmom."
Beneath the post, she revealed that the specific theme of son's party was "Sliving Under the Sea."
The birthday boy finally made an appearance in the following story. The proud mom, who wore a star tiara, matching necklace, a white Chanel purse and a blue ballgown fit for Cinderella, held her son as she gushed about him turning 1 years old. Phoenix looked adorable in a pageboy hat, white collared Fendi shirt, khaki pants and white sneakers. The mother and son duo also sported matching white sunglasses.
"I'm so excited. I've thrown amazing birthday parties my whole life, so to now be able to do this for my little boy is just such a special memory," Hilton explained in the video.
"Are you ready for your birthday?" she asked the toddler. "Look this is all for you," she said as she carried him outside to the party.
There were quite a few stars in attendance to wish Hilton's son a happy birthday.
Kat Von D and her 5-year-old son, Leafar, made sure to greet the birthday boy. The tattoo artist and television personality later posted a photo on her Instagram story of her and Leafar snapping a picture with Hilton and Phoenix. Von D wished him a happy birthday in the caption.
Next up was Kelly Osbourne who attended the celebration with 1-year-old son Sidney.
"We love a theme," Osbourne complimented Hilton before she picked Sidney up.
Fellow first-time mom Rumer Willis also stopped by with her daughter Louetta, who was born in April 2023.
Hilton said Willis' baby girl was "so sweet" in the clip.
The "Paris in Love" star later posed for photos with Phoenix in front of a grand archway.
"I can't believe he's 1 already!" someone behind the camera said.
"I know," Hilton replied. "It's the best."
After their mini photoshoot, Hilton and Phoenix visited the petting zoo in another section of the backyard where there were chickens, ducks, rabbits and goats in an enclosure. Hilton held one of the goats and showed it to her son, but the 1-year-old seemed a little scared and cried.
Lance Bass and his 2-year-old twins, Violet and Alexander, decided to check out the petting zoo, too. The 'N Sync member came over and gave Hilton a kiss on the cheek before feeding and petting some of the animals.
Hilton also hired a "unicorn" to come surprise the children.
Sister-in-law Tessa Hilton, who recently announced she was expecting her third child with Barron Hilton, and her daughter Milou were in attendance along with Chanel West Coast and her daughter Bowie who were also invited guests.
Hilton shares Phoenix and daughter London, who arrived in November 2023, with husband Carter Reum. Read on to learn more about the reality television star's new life as a mom of two.
Paris Hilton is embracing her ‘mom era’
Has Paris Hilton gone from a socialite into a mama bear?
She decided to "clear the air" on social media about a scene in her newest reality show, Peacock's “Paris in Love," in which she says that she first changed her son's diaper by herself one month after he was born.
"You're pooping a lot," Hilton says to 32-day-old Phoenix in a clip from from the second season of the show.
"Should I learn how to change his diaper?" Hilton asks sister Nicky Hilton Rothschild, who casually responds, "Yeah."
"OK ... I know I said I wouldn’t do this on my birthday, but ..." Hilton says, as if she's mustering up courage, "I will for you. Anything for Phoenix."
Hilton marches the baby over to the changing table where her sister and nanny are waiting.
"OK, I'm scared," she says.
"You've never done it?" Rothschild asks.
"No," Hilton says as she lays Phoenix down.
Meanwhile, Rothschild admonishes Hilton, "Be gentle. Gentle," and she advises her to "get in the little crevices" as she cleans off Phoenix. The nanny adds, "When you do that, you have to talk to him."
As Hilton snaps up Phoenix's onesie, Rothschild says with a laugh, "That was half you doing it by yourself."
On Dec. 13, Hilton clarified that she played the scene for laughs: "On my show, #ParisInLove, I joked about changing a diaper for the first time, which, let’s be honest, was just me having a bit of fun — as you can see I changed his diaper the night I brought him home."
And indeed, when Hilton brought baby Phoenix home for the first time, on the show she does say that she changed his diaper before they left the hospital.
Changing tone, Hilton discussed the importance she places on being a mother. "In all seriousness, when it comes to being a mom, I’m fully involved and loving every moment of it. It’s interesting how a playful comment can be taken so seriously. Even though this season was the most real, authentic and raw I have ever been with my fans," she wrote.
Fans seem to agree. The comments on her post are overwhelmingly supportive.
Citing the "whimsical character" she played on "The Simple Life," Hilton said that it is a role that's difficult to "shake off completely."
Hilton concluded, "While I love a good laugh, I also believe in being real and responsible, especially as a parent. Let’s remember to find the humor in life, but also to cherish and respect the real moments. Thanks for understanding, Happy Holidays and much love to you all!"
After that episode was filmed, Hilton welcomed London, which means more diapers! She said she is swept up in her "mom era" now that she has two children.
Hilton stopped by TODAY with Hoda & Jenna at the end of November 2023 to chat about her new daughter London, little sister to Phoenix. Hilton shares both children, who were delivered through surrogacy, with Reum.
"She is just a little angel and my life just feels so complete with my little baby boy and my baby girl," Hilton told the co-hosts on Nov. 27. "We're just over the moon."
"I'm loving my mom era," Hilton added.
Now that she's a mom, Hilton says her heart is full.
"I just feel so at peace, just so happy (and) so grateful for my husband and this beautiful family and life that we're building together and I couldn't imagine anything else," she told TODAY.
Here's everything to know about Paris Hilton and Carter Reum's children.
Phoenix Barron Hilton Reum
No one knew that Hilton and Reum were expecting their first child together, not even their loved ones.
“I just feel like my life has been so public and I just wanted something for me,” Hilton told TODAY with Hoda & Jenna in March 2023. “I didn’t want the media and people online just speaking about my son even before he was here on this earth.”
Privacy was so important, Hilton told Harper's Bazaar, that when her surrogate was in labor, the reality star checked into the hospital under a different name and in disguise.
In January 2023, Hilton shared the first photo of her son, showing only his little hand curled around her thumb.
“You are already loved beyond words,” she wrote.
In February 2023, Hilton discussed her son's "unique" name on her “This is Paris” podcast.
"I love that it’s not only a city but also has other meanings that are just beautiful," she said. "I really believe that names have power and we wanted a name for our baby boy that was uniquely remarkable."
"It stands for hope, rebirth and transformation,” said Hilton.
Phoenix's middle name Barron is for her late grandfather who died in 2019.
In July 2023, Hilton celebrated Phoenix's half-birthday by sharing Instagram photos.
"This Barbie is a Mom," she wrote on the slideshow. "My baby boy Phoenix is 6 months old today. He is my world and makes my life feel so complete. Can’t wait for all the magical memories we will create together! Mommy loves you so much angel baby."
For Phoenix's first birthday, Hilton planned a "Sliving Under the Sea" themed party that featured a petting zoo and plenty of celebrity guests.
Surrounded by blue, orange and fish balloons, Hilton posed for pictures with Phoenix and sat with him in the petting zoo so he could get a closer look at the rabbits and goats.
Lance Bass, Rumer Willis and Kelly Osbourne were some of the celebs in attendance who brought their children to the party and wished Phoenix a happy birthday.
London
In an Instagram post, Hilton announced the arrival of her daughter London on Nov. 23, 2023.
"Thankful for my baby girl," Hilton wrote on an Instagram photo of a baby's outfit branded with "London" and a pair of pink sunglasses, alongside a stuffed bunny.
While Hilton's extended family knew that baby London was on her way, they didn't know her due date. Hilton introduced them to her daughter on Thanksgiving Day.
Hilton always loved the name London for her future children.
“I knew when I was a little girl that I always wanted to have a daughter one day named London because London is one of my favorite cities in the world,” she said during the February 2023 “This Is Paris” podcast.
Phoenix is already quite taken with his little sister London, Hilton told TODAY with Hoda & Jenna on Nov. 27.
“He’s just so gentle and sweet and he’ll put his hand out and rub her arm or her face,” said Hilton.
