80 years ago today (5/20/44), one of the premier rock vocalists of all time, Joe Cocker, was born on 5/20/44. Known for his gritty voice, Cocker began his singing career in the pubs and clubs of Sheffield in the 1960s before hitting the big time. He had a career-defining set at Woodstock, which later followed with his revered “Mad Dogs & Englishmen” tour. Cocker passed away in late 2014 from lung cancer.
