Today We Got Born In The U.S.A.! | Q104.3 | Doc Reno - iHeart

In 1984 Bruce Springsteen released "Born in the U.S.A." his seventh album that blasted the American star into global superstardom! Co-produced by Springsteen, Jon Landau, Steven Van Zandt (Little Steven), and Chuck Plotkin, in New York City with the E Street Band. It took over two years to record, as some of the songs were from the demo tape that gave birth to Bruce's "Nebraska".

Born in the U.S.A. is the album, where Springsteen went pop, as he used synthesizers, and a more modern sound to contrast the harder themes of Nebraska. The album was still about the working-class, patriotism, and personal relationships, but also had radio friendly songs and videos that caused it to boom both on radio and MTV.

The cover had Springsteen against the American flag and was taken by Annie Leibovitz, and has appeared on various lists of the best album covers of all time.

The album featured seven singles, five music videos, and three dance remixes, to become a massive success, becoming the best-selling album of 1985. "Dancing in the Dark", "Born in the U.S.A.", "I'm on Fire", and "Glory Days", all reached the top ten, as the album sold over 30 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums of all time.

Springsteen and the E Street Band had the biggest tour for that year, and on tour's end Springsteen would team up with a gala of stars to record USA For Africa's "We Are The World". Born in the U.S.A. made Springsteen a megastar and cemented him as one of the biggest rock singers on the planet.
