Today marks the 83rd birth anniversary of revered poet, writer and lyricist, Syed Shamsul Haque. Syed Shamsul Haque was the youngest recipient to be awarded the Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1966, at the tender age of 31. He also received the Ekushey Padak in 1984 and the Independence Day Award by the Government of Bangladesh in 2000. Syed Shamsul Haque passed away on September 27, 2016, leaving behind a magnanimous volume of work for his fans. To commemorate his birthday, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy is hosting a discussion in his honour at 7 pm today, followed by the staging of his famous play Payer Awaj Pawa Jai.
