KENNEWICK, Wash. — A shocking viral video of what appears to show three Kamiakin High School students beating another student is circulating on social media.
Several concerned parents reached out to action news about the video, and now Kennewick police are investigating.
The case has been sent to the prosecuting attorney to see what charges could be issued to the students involved in the suspected assault, and to those who got their phones out and recorded it.
"When people are out there videotaping these kinds of assaults and posting it on Facebook it promotes the assaulting of other people. It promotes this kind of behavior,” said Sgt. Aaron Clem.
Sargent Clem says the way the video was recorded makes it look like the students recording were waiting for the fight to break out.
The student resource officer at Kamiakin was not at school during the time of the assault, but he is continuing the investigation this week.
Kennewick School District sent Action News this statement: “The administration is aware of a video being promoted on social media of a fight between students at Kamiakin High School and the investigation is ongoing. Students involved may face emergency expulsion and other appropriate disciplinary action.”
