Running back James White will reportedly miss the Patriots’ 1 p.m. game against the New York Jets because his wife is expected to give birth, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Patriots’ RB James White is out today vs. Jets, per sources. White’s wife is expected to give birth.

Schefter later pointed out that this is not the first time this has happened this year, as linebacker Kyle Van Noy missed the season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers for the same reason.
Nobody gameplans any better than the Patriots….except when it comes to timing baby deliveries.
For the second time in three weeks, a key Patriot will not play so he can be with his pregnant wife. First LB Kyle Van Noy in Week 1, now RB James White in Week 3.

White is a threat both as a rusher and pass-catcher, and he hauled in a feed from quarterback Tom Brady for a touchdown in a Week 2 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Sony Michel is already the starting back, but in White’s absence, ESPN’s Matthew Berry believes Michel is poised for a particularly big day.
Just mentioned on #FFNow. There's been 4 games that James White (in basically his current role) has missed. In 3 of those games, one RB has touched the ball 29 times (Blount once, D Lewis twice)…I have Michel as a top 10 play today. Rex should get enough work to be flex viable.

White and his wife, Diana, reportedly welcomed their son into the world Sunday.
